I was told by several people that it would not be possible to grow rhubarb in a pot.
But I had already bought a small plant at a garden festival, without really knowing what I was going to do with it. I just knew that I liked rhubarb! It turned out that I didn’t actually have a space in my garden to grow it in the ground. So, I did a little bit of research and found a website that told me that it might be possible if my pot was deep enough to house a large root ball.
Looking around the garden centre and online, I realised that my budget was not going to stretch enough to buy a large pot. Looking around my kitchen, I found my large waste bin. A few drainage holes drilled in the bottom and I was good to go.
Fast forward a month or so – my small rhubarb plant, bought at a garden festival, is now a monster and obviously very happy drinking up the sunshine on the patio.
