There is nothing like reading a book to transport you to far-flung places, to introduce you to new ideas or even to teach you how to make a meal on a budget.
We asked some of the Living Quietly Team to recommend their favourite books and we got quite a variety for you to choose from.

I just love this book, it appeals to my inner wild woman. I may be a resting wolf now, but this book still lifts my mood and strengthens my spirit. I keep a copy next to my chair in the living room, so I can dip in regularly.
I have small children and work, so I don’t get to read as much as I would like. Recently my brother passed on some David Walliams books that his children had finished with. My children love them too, they are easy to read together and the stories appeal to adults as well as children. Our favourite is Gangster Granny.
I love books that are inspirational and give great advice. I guess Marie Kondo’s book fits very well with the ethos of quiet living too, advising you only keep things in your life that bring you joy and simplifying!
I want to tell you that I read great works of fiction or hide my self away with the classics, but I can’t. I read Chic Lit. I read a lot on my Kindle and its so easy to find new books and to keep up with new stories from favourite authors. I am reading the Shopaholic series at the moment, its good fun. It may not be classic literature, but it does transport me out of myself and into another story for a while and isn’t that what literature should do?
